Imitinef Mercilet – Free Blood Cancer Medicine ~ is a Hoax

Many of you might have a received mails similar to the one below.

Subject: Free Medicine for Blood Cancer!!!! Please don’t delete this without forwarding

Dear all,

I have forwarded it to the maximum I can.

Let it reach the 110 crores Indians and the remaining if any.

Put yourself, if you or your brother or sister or your mom and dad or any x, y, z near you, got affected, then how u would have reacted, think it, Forward it.

‘Imitinef Mercilet’ is a medicine which cures blood cancer. Its available free of cost at “Adyar Cancer Institute in Chennai”. Create Awareness. It might help someone.

Forward to as many as u can, kindness cost nothing.

This seems to be a hoax, as it is in most such mails. Quoting this report from www.hoax-slayer.com.

According to this message, India’s Adyar Cancer Institute is distributing, free of charge, a medicine named ‘Imitinef Mercilet’ that cures blood cancer. The message is circulating rapidly via email and is also making its way around the Internet via blogs, forums and social networking websites.

The Adyar Cancer Institute is a real health facility located in the city of Chennai, India and, as its name implies, it indeed specializes in cancer treatment and research. The Adyar Cancer Institute has achieved great results in the treatment and research of cancer since its establishment in 1954.

I contacted a spokesperson at the Adyar Cancer Institute to ask about the veracity of the message. He sent me the following reply:

Only the Part of this message is true. The medicine Imitinef is available free for only qualified persons and not for all. It is free for those who have admitted in the hospital for treatment.

‘Imitinef Mercilet’ is apparently an alternative spelling of the drug Imatinib mesylate which is used in the treatment of some forms of leukemia along with other types of cancer. Imatinib, often referred to a “Gleevec”, has proved to be an effective treatment for some forms of cancers. However, “blood cancer” is a generalized term for cancers that affect the blood, lymphatic system or bone marrow. The three types of blood cancer are listed as leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma. These three malignancies require quite different kinds of treatments. While drugs (including Imatinib), along with other treatments such as radiation can help to slow or even stop the progress of these cancers, there is currently no single drug treatment that can be said to actually cure all such cancers.

Moreover, it should be noted that Imatinib is available for cancer patients in many different health facilities around the world, not just the Adyar Cancer Institute.

Thus, although there are some elements of truth to this message, its is also potentially misleading and contains inaccurate information.

    I should add that there is no definitively established “cure” for any type of cancer, but only “treatments” that may give substantial relief or remission in some cancers.

  4. just be sure about this message first.and this medicine is not used for all types of blood cancer,but we can realize that this medicine is costly.one bottle of imatinib costs around 10000 rs outside

  7. I too came across the same mail………….the information contained in the mail was misleading…..its always better to cross check/ verify the authencity b4 forwarding such mails….since very often we keep getting such mails….and just for the heck of it we forward them…..which may not be true….

        That’s nonsense. Trust in GOD. GOD does not give the diseases, so don’t give false hope. Any disease is cured by medicine or internal body mechanism. God does not give it and does not cure it.

      2. Which god, your Shive, Lord Ganesh, Krishna, Jesus, Allah, which god. Then why the Puttaparthi Sai who was behaving like god, him self died. We, human are not created by any of these god, but evolved over time from other animals. Read science, not Mahabarat or Rmayan to understand this. Religion/faith is purely personal. Let us not thrust to some one. A muslim baby brought by a Brahmin family will definitely go for temple for worship. A Brahmin baby brought up by a Muslim family will say Allah. Because, it is the development that teaches you. Not that your gods will surface and help. If so the Shiv was drowned at Uthakand recently along with thousands of human loss.

    Cancer is a Immuno Compropised Disease…
    Actually ‘cancer treatment’ is still a subject of research.
    nowadays,Drs r advising BMT (bone marrow transplant),but it also
    most of times fails to cure cancer…Cancer treatment is still on trial & error basis.
    So,dont believe on such mails.,,Continue with chemo,radiation as per ur Oncologist
    advised…Also,try some ayu. medicines only to Improve “Immunity System”….Also,
    relatives of CA pt. should always b hopeful for the best & help the pt. in anyway possible & make him happy…

  12. The same medicine is sold as “Gleevec” by Novartis and is given free by them. This medicine is suitable for CML ie chronic Myelogenous Leukemia. It is a type of blood cancer. please note that this medicine does note cure cancer but is a part of cancer treatment.

    This medicine is not suitable for all kinds of cancers.

    I hope this clarifies the matter.

  16. There are several types of blood cancer and diagnosis and treatment vary from case to case. For example ALL (acute lymphoblastic leukemia) requires an extensive chemo therapy and even bone marrow transplant and radiation therapy. A single medicine like Imitinef Mercilet, even offered free, is not a cure or a a solution for blood cancer at all.

      I have surrendered myself to GOD ALMIGHTY and HE has given me an ultimate healing.

    My mother is undergoing treatment for ALL( ACUTE LYMBHOBLASTIC LEUKEMIA) at ADYAR CANCER INSTITUTE and i can say with full confidence that Imitinef Mercilet (GLIVEC) is used for treating only CML(CHRONIC MYLELOID LEUKEMIA), as i know this from the ONCOLOGIST here. So better be specific of from what type of BLOOD cancer the patient is suffering from, then go for Imitinef Mercilet.
    Hope my information given above helps someone in someway…

  27. Cancer is simply Deranged function of human cell. The cell function differently and disturb body function.
    Some cancer cell are chemo sensitive ,some to Radiation and some require both and or with surgery.
    This type of messages are far from evidence base reality and are for propaganda and high light their institute.
    This is a half true message.

  30. I wish this was true, I have CML and I know the mental trauma that goes with it. I was advised to CMC Vellore Hospital and they helped with the same. well now my disease is under control. Thanks CMC

    needed it , would you not want to know? In any case the cost would be a mere fraction of what it is in the United States. So please pass it on to someone that may benefit from it.

  45. U all might want to check out this “cannabis oil” (marijuana) in the internet. I know it’s illegal to use marijuana but i watched the CNN news a month or two ago, some states in the US have already legalised the use of this oil for many health purposes. So pls check this out. Morning sunlight, oxygen, ground/forest therapy, organic extra virgin coconut oil, Vit D3, Qigong practices, lemon water (alkalizing effect), baking soda+organic molasses in hot water, etc.. i am not a doctor so all i am recommending is find out in the internet for more information.
