Fixing – Blogger.com won’t publish ur posts sent from ur mail or other such remote locations.

For past few months all my posts sent remotely (eg. sent from by email, Google Video or Digg) were being saved as drafts and not published. I had the Publish option turned on even then. I informed Blogger.com help desk about it, but as usual they never responded.

Well now it turns out that their bot had actually flagged my blog as a ‘spam blog’. (Click here to read what a spam blog is.) The solution is to go to the following url

http://www.blogger.com/unlock-blog.g?blogID=x

replace x by your blog’s ID. To know what is your blog’s ID. Login to your Blogger.com account and click on the concerned blog’s name. See the address box of your browser it will contain something like

http://www.blogger.com/posts.g?blogID=x

There will be a number instead of x. This is your blog’s ID.

When you are at that page then the page will guide you from there. Happy blogging!

Superb high resolution wallpapers (up to 2560×1600)

An excellent source for free backgrounds, sorted by user rating. The images are available in all common resolutions, from 2560×1600 down to 1024×768, and are very diversely themed.

I was personally looking for 1280×800 resolution pics for my laptop and I found 78 pages of them! It also has section marked as PSP for wallpapers for PSP. The wallpapers I found were mostly scenic.

No more ‘googling’

In a freak decision by Google, it has decided to crack down on the usage of its brand name as a verb. One might expect that this should only give more publicity to Google, but Google says it is damaging its brand name. So, better watch out before you say anywhere that you ‘googled’ rather than searched.

As reported in Digit technology magazine (Sept 2006), Page 126.

It has been quite a while.

My (mid-sem) exam finished this week. Umph! That was quite a nasty week! Sleepless nights and constant pouring over the books! Now I am a (sort of) free person. Our 12 holiday starts on 27th (Sept), till then our college is keeping us damn busy in labs. In my case, I am doing my bit to keep myself from resting for the little period our college allows.

A month back I bought my new laptop (HP Pavilion dv5200TX). This is a Intel Centrino Duo (1.73GHz) powered baby. This has 100GB SATA HDD (for non-geeks- SATAs are faster than the ‘ordinary‘ HDD) and 1GB of DDR2 RAM! Did I mention Nvidia Geforce Go 7400? This comes bundled with lots of softwares and very well customised Windows XP Home SP2. This lap even includes a remote control which we can use to control HP’s own media centre; oh, yes, you can use HP’s Media Centre without practically booting your system! Coming back to the graphics chipset I must say I am impressed. It runs NFS Most Wanted Black Edition, Tom Raider – Legend and Serious Sam 2 smoothly at almost all features turned on. The included software bundle of Nvidia has many awesome features like transparency for windows, zooming of the whole screen, creation of multiple desktops, etc. I almost forgot to mention that its has a 15.4″ widescreen running at 1280×800 resolutions and it is ‘Windows Vista ready‘.

…And yes you may find the content of this post hard to follow because I am writing it while listening to songs from my new iPod Shuffle (512MB) which I got for Rs.300 along with my laptop as a promotional offer…..and yes, this laptop cost me Rs.65000.
