It has been quite a while.

My (mid-sem) exam finished this week. Umph! That was quite a nasty week! Sleepless nights and constant pouring over the books! Now I am a (sort of) free person. Our 12 holiday starts on 27th (Sept), till then our college is keeping us damn busy in labs. In my case, I am doing my bit to keep myself from resting for the little period our college allows.

A month back I bought my new laptop (HP Pavilion dv5200TX). This is a Intel Centrino Duo (1.73GHz) powered baby. This has 100GB SATA HDD (for non-geeks- SATAs are faster than the ‘ordinary‘ HDD) and 1GB of DDR2 RAM! Did I mention Nvidia Geforce Go 7400? This comes bundled with lots of softwares and very well customised Windows XP Home SP2. This lap even includes a remote control which we can use to control HP’s own media centre; oh, yes, you can use HP’s Media Centre without practically booting your system! Coming back to the graphics chipset I must say I am impressed. It runs NFS Most Wanted Black Edition, Tom Raider – Legend and Serious Sam 2 smoothly at almost all features turned on. The included software bundle of Nvidia has many awesome features like transparency for windows, zooming of the whole screen, creation of multiple desktops, etc. I almost forgot to mention that its has a 15.4″ widescreen running at 1280×800 resolutions and it is ‘Windows Vista ready‘.

…And yes you may find the content of this post hard to follow because I am writing it while listening to songs from my new iPod Shuffle (512MB) which I got for Rs.300 along with my laptop as a promotional offer…..and yes, this laptop cost me Rs.65000.

No blogging till mid-sem.

Hi,

Of late I have not been posting anything. I am not dead but actually I have been (well I am still) quite busy with my brand new laptop – HP Pavilion dv5200TX. Furthermore, our mid-semister exam is due on 6th of September. I am still to know the syllabus. The exam will be over in a week. I am itching to tell you about my laptop and the mathematical treat I promised.

…..er…I forgot to mention that if you are viewing my site using Internet Explorer 6 then you maybe seeing the side-bar misplaced at the bottom rather than the side. Use Internet Explorer 7 beta3 or better use Mozilla Firefox.

I am back!

My college has started. This is the 3rd week of new session. We don’t have decent (rather hard to access) internet facility in our college. I come back to my home every Saturday and hence I can only logon only on Saturday and Sundays (now hopefully on Fridays too). It really sucks, because I can’t keep my blog updated and read the barrage of emails I receive and the read the daily news on Blender.

Anyway, if you want to keep track of any thing new on this blog then all you need is subscribe to the Atom or RSS feed of this site. In Firefox you can add the site feed as a bookmark. Or if you have any other RSS feed reader then use this url to subscribe: http://applegrew.blogspot.com/atom.xml.

About forthcoming article: I am going to make series of posts about “Digitisation Mathematics“. Never heard of such a thing? Well, it is a not-so-small mathematical operations I made in my spare time when I was in std 6 (not sure about it). We normally deal with numbers as a whole, but here I deal with individual or some smaller groups of digits only. I will use this to prove some theorems and will also draw parallels with popular theorems for general mathematics.

This will be a treat for mathematical enthusiasts. Keep watching.

AppleGrew Apple Grew.

My friends and kinsmen sometimes ask me from where did I get this weird name – Apple Grew? Well I too don’t remember, maybe the Apple thing came to my mind from the Apple Computers and Grew? Maybe from the fact that apple grows! What has hooked me on to this alias is the uniqueness of it. Sample this. Type applegrew (don’t put space between apple and grew) in Google and search it. Almost all the search results (total of 53 when I searched) including the 1st result, turned out to be me! Only about 4-5 results (out of 53) didn’t relate to me.

Come-on search the net for ur name. See how many of them relate to u. It is recommended that u use quotes around ur name. I would like to hear from u, how much results were related to u. Do u know what this kind of search is called? It is called ego-searching. It is the searching the internet about yourself to access your popularity. There is yet another place to pamper ur ego. Goto Google Trends . Here u can get the statistics on how many times a particular keyword (it could be ur name) has been searched for in Google and from where. It gives year-wise and region-wise break-up.

U didn’t knew about Google Trends? Well there are many more goodies available from Google. Google is more than a search engine. Keep a watch here (subscribe to feed here) for my post enlisting the dug out Google services u may not know of.
